In 1988 the HSNT commenced publishing manuscripts on Northern Territory history that were unlikely to be published by any of the larger publishing houses. To date over 90 books have been published by the HSNT.
In 2007 the HSNT began publishing an Occasional Paper (OP) series. OPs include write-ups of formal talks given at HSNT events; well considered manuscripts that are too long for publication in the Journal; and short records of events, excursions, fieldwork or specialised studies. To date the HSNT has published 31 OPs.
Manuscripts submitted by authors are reviewed by a committee of the HSNT’s Council for a decision on entering into a publication agreement.
The HSNT attempts to meet all publication costs, although an author contribution may be requested for larger or more costly publications. Authors retain copyright for their work but receive no return from sales.
For inquiries concerning manuscripts or publishing, contact the Book Editor at the HSNT email.
Hard copy publications are detailed below and can be purchased online from this site.
Early OPs are available only as digital copies and can be purchased as downloads from this site.
Postage for books can be reduced if more than one book is bought.
For inquiries concerning purchases or postage, please email the HSNT.
The Historical Society of the Northern Territory acknowledges the Larrakia people, the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land on which History House stands, and acknowledges their continuing connection to land, sea, and community. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
