DE LA RUE, Kathy 2004
City during the Years of South Australian Administration
The book traces the development of Darwin's social and physical history over the
42 years of South Australia's administration of the region. Each chapter covers the term office of the senior government officer in Darwin, starting with Surveyor -General Goyder, who surveyed Darwin and surrounding country in 1869 through to Samuel Mitchell
who was the last Government Resident in 1911 when the Commonwealth took over the Territory.
The Historical Society of the Northern Territory acknowledges the Larrakia people, the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land on which History House stands, and acknowledges their continuing connection to land, sea, and community. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
