A rebellion in 1918 by disgruntled unionists led by Harold Nelson that ultimately led to the removal of Administrator John Gilruth. The article details the background to these developments and the preoccupation with WW1 by the Commonwealth Government. The closure of the Vesty’s meatworks added to the tensions.
