REE, Gerald Hugo 2015
This is a narrative of the management of leprosy in Queensland. Ree covers the discovery of leprosy and the policies and racism that followed. Throughout his work are accounts by patients who lived in the institutions and those who cared for them. While it is about Queensland, it is also a Top End/Kimberly story as the practices and attitudes were very similar.
The Historical Society of the Northern Territory acknowledges the Larrakia people, the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land on which History House stands, and acknowledges their continuing connection to land, sea, and community. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
