EGAN, Ted 2017
The Historical Society has recently and generously been provided this hard cover book self-published by Ted Egan, a previous Administrator, for on-sale. Gilruth was the first appointed NT Administrator who served from 1912 to 1919. He was Scottish, a veterinary scientist and one of the founders of CSIRO. His time in the Territory was turbulent mainly due to the disputes with the trade unions. The Darwin Rebellion in December 1918 and the strikes held by the unions ultimately marked the end of Gilruth's career in the Territory.
The Historical Society of the Northern Territory acknowledges the Larrakia people, the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land on which History House stands, and acknowledges their continuing connection to land, sea, and community. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
